DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD SCHEME

GOLD AWARD
The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is an internationally recognised accreditation scheme designed to promote and reward personal and social development in young people between the ages of 14 and 25.
The award scheme has 3 awards, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
The Gold award is split into 5 sections:
| Service |
Activities such as Fire Service and Police Service are set up with our local stations. There is also the opportunity to participate in a unit service for Able Cadets and above. |

| Expedition |
We hold Training and Assessment weekends throughout the summer months. Annually, we normally hold 3 - 4 weekends. |

| Skill |
Certain SCC Specialisations and Proficiencies can qualify cadets in this section. For example:
- Drill Instructor
- Marine Engineering
- Full/Small Bore Shooting

| Physical Recreation |
Activities within our unit that can qualify cadets in this section include, Sailing, Football, Swimming and Pulling. |

|
| Residential Project |
This involves 5 days and 4 nights away from home, with people that are not the participants usual companions. |
